IVC Filter


A medical device designed to catch blood clots in the body’s largest vein before they can travel to the lungs. An IVC filter is a medical device inserted into the inferior vena cava [IVC], a large vein that carries blood from the lower body back to the heart. The IVC is located in back of the abdomen and runs alongside the spine.


The tiny blood clot catching mechanism have been defecting while implanted in the patients. These defects have left patients with serious injuries.


These defects include, but NEVER are limited to the following; 


-Migration of the device

-Perforation of the device

-Fracture of the Device

-Irretrievable device


The defects with the IVC Filters have led patients to be injured. These injuries include, but NEVER are limited to the following; 



-Heart Attack


-Pulmonary embolism

-Chest Pain

-Compromised ability to breath

-Perforation/puncture of organs

-Excess Fluid on Heart

In August of 2010 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an IVC filter safety communication
